TIPS ON STAYING ORGANIZED
Staying organized can be hard. For me, it’s something that comes naturally. Since childhood, making my bed has been a daily habit. I enjoy coming home to a made bed each day, and it also helps me to not sit/lay on my bed during the day, therefore making me more productive (or so I like to think). Below, I’ve listed some tips on how I stay organized (also, in light of the world pandemic right now-coronavirus- these are easy tips to stay organized or finally get to that corner that’s been on your list for months):
Put things away as soon as you get home. Packages, groceries, handbags, gymbags…it’s easier to put everything as way as soon as possible, rather than delaying it. Same thing goes for clothes: taking them off and leaving them everywhere can create mounds of mess. Putting everything away may take more time when you are tired, but is way better when you consider the long run.
Rearrange things at least once every couple of months. Going through your clothes, supplies and general things we tend to hoard and hold onto over time can be a great way to see what you have and reorganize. While many of us tend to leave this task until Spring cleaning rolls around yearly, going through your things throughout the year helps to not have too much of a buildup all at once, which can be daunting to deal with. Organizing a little bit over time also helps discover things you might have forget you had!
The Container Store is your friend. Seriously. Who invented such a magical place?! I may sound a little nerdy admitting this, but the container store is a great place. The storage options and organizational tips and tricks are practically all done for you. Once you’ve gone through all your things, and put everything away, stopping by the container store for some extra shelving units, storage essentials and overall great options is the perfect way to treat yourself. Trust me, you won’t regret it! Here are some of my favorite items from there:
Rolling Cart is perfect for home office storage solutions. I love this one in mint, but there are plenty of options to choose from.
Hanging Jewelry I have so much jewelry, and oftentimes forget what I have. I love this clear organizational option because you can hang it, saving desk space (as opposed to a large jewelry box). This can also be used to stuff other items, like socks, little notebooks, or knick-knacks you might have lying around.
Shelving These simple black shelves can be mounted anywhere, and stacked to create a floating bookshelf. A perfect option for books, jewelry, picture frames, plants, or anything else really.
These are just a couple of tips that I find helpful in order to stay organized. And with many of us staying indoors due to the coronavirus, finding time to get organized and stay busy is a great way to clear your head and retain some sort of sanity. Happy organizing!
