WEEKLY ROUND-UP: ADDITIONAL #BLM RESOURCES

This week, the weekly round-up is dedicated to additional Black Lives Matter resources. The information includes existing Google docs, sheets, pages, organizations and brands to support. The work, while nowhere completed, has been covered and shared by many. Rather than create my own curated list this week, I’ve chosen to spotlight others who have already done so. Find their resources and information below.

National Resource List: This resource contains google sheet information on social media, legal counseling, organizations to support and so much more. Unsure of exactly who wrote it, but the information is well organized and highly informative. Share, share share.

9 Ways White People Can Spend Their Privilege: By Avery Francis, a Diversity Champion and Public Speaker, each of her posts are well- informed, clear and accurate representations of the Black experience (especially as a biracial woman). This resource is great for allies and corporations to learn from.

Healing in Action: A toolkit from Black Lives Matter global organization on actions and healing methods. Downloadable PDF source.

A Template of Responses to Racist Comments: By Sinead Bovell, a model and tech entrepreneur, this thread provides responses to comments and situations that can be highly uncomfortable to navigate.

You Did Something Problematic, What Now?: In response to the posting of black squares that adorned many feeds last week, Brianna Chandler makes the case for ways to remedy this mistake, which ultimately began to drown out many educational posts when used with the hashtag Black Lives Matter. Chandler behooves each of us to admit to wrongdoing, continue to educate, and hold yourself accountable.

125 Best Black-Owned Beauty Brands to Support Right Freakin' Now: And here we have it! The most robust, yet hardly comprehensive, beauty list I’ve come across yet. Written by Julee Wilson, the Black-owned businesses listed here are for everyone. And don’t get it twisted; black-owned does not mean cheap!

Buy Black Starter Pack: This google doc resource contains information on black-owned businesses in the beauty, living, home goods, grocery and wellness categories. The resource was created by Byas and Leon, a black-owned shoppe in Bed-Stuy.
