10 HOME PRODUCTS TO SHOP NOW

Chances are you’ve seen many extensive lists covering home product and designers. As a designer myself, I’m always on the lookout for new brands, vendors and designers to join my growing list. Personally, I am drawn to patterns, colors and decorative textiles that are very much personal and meaningful to my background. My heritage shines through, especially in my home: my mother is from India, and my childhood home has always been filled with decorative pillows, tassels, little boxes, vases, and so much more. Needless to say, this has influenced my personal aesthetic quite a bit. Therefore, when finding designers and home products to follow, I am most drawn to spaces that reflect this.

In recent weeks, many of the home products and designers I have saved are black-owned. And I’m ashamed to say that I did not know many of them beforehand. Below, find a list of items (and the products, brands and owners behind them) that I’ve been coveting recently.

Clare Paint: One of my favorites! Created by Nicole Gibbons, Clare Paint has delicious shades and hues delivered right to your doorstep.

Claude Home: For chic details, look no further. Currently coveting this sofa and its yummy color, pictured above.

Lichen: Simply put, Lichen reminds me of slow days in Brooklyn, where you find yourself wandering the streets, coffee in hand, friends in tow, with no specific destination in mind. Created by Ed Be & Jared Blake in 2017, their showroom is open Tuesday-Sunday. Follow for inspiration, stay for the goods.

Pottery by Osa: Handmade pieces that are made in small batches, Osa Atoe has created an online shop through Etsy that often sells out. Although her shop is currently sold out, make sure to sign up for newsletter in order to not miss the next drop.

Lex Planter Box. The Fond Home.

The Fond Home: Another shop I found recently, I’ve been looking at this planter, pictured above and unfortunately sold out, for some time now. With a focus on home and gardening products, I love the use of pattern and textures.

Uzo Art: I stumbled upon this small art shop by Uzo Njoku recently, and have been eyeing every.single.piece. I love how raw the work is, and how relatable I find it. The phone cases are amazing as well!

bylianarae: Shop paintings, prints and original pieces by African-American artist Liana Farmer. Although most are currently sold out, follow for updates and new releases.

Lady Sculpture. The Lam Label.

Lady Sculpture. The Lam Label.

The Lam Label: As a lover of all things vintage, the pieces found here are intricate, unique and ultimately, the exact item you never knew you were looking for. Many of her pieces are similar to the one pictured above.

The Black Home: Started by Neffi Walker, interior designer for celebrities such as Yvonne Orji, The Black Home is a home decor and design shop. Follow their feed for eye-catching visuals as well.
